Male or alien figures, but the actual name for “action figures” is DOLLS. Why is it okay for boys to play with action figures but not “dolls”? It’s a hate thing. Religion has scoured the world of acceptance for all LGBTQ+ people. If a boy is caught with a “doll” he is often punished for it. Why? What’s really wrong with a boy having a “doll”? At one of my daycare centers, a beautiful red-haired boy went home one day and, without explanation, grabbed one of his sister’s Barbie dolls and wouldn’t give it back. Mom, a boy, called me for advice. I said let him keep it and be positive about it. He wore this doll by her hair for 2 months (no sign that she became an abuser, just simpler). When we went on our trips, people would give him askance and I would glare at them. Then something wonderful happened. Another woman stopped looking at him and said to me, “I’m so relieved! When I was breastfeeding our second child my son said he wanted a baby doll so we got him one. From then on, when I was breastfeeding her, he would sit next to me and hold the doll to his chest to mimic me. When I bathed her, we made his doll. He only outgrew the doll after we took a long 2 week vacation out of state. Then he found something else to wear and his sister got the doll. My son is not LGBTQ and is a wonderful father to his girls. All boys should be able to play with dolls. There are actions that occur in puppetry that help boys become better men, especially when the parents have understanding and encouragement. All males of our species have the ability to be mothering, kind, and caring. As long as adult males, who are firmly committed to what a “real man” is, don’t stop children from learning about their feminine side, we could have an entire generation or two who don’t think it matters which one type of toy that their children play with. And the children will grow up
